- Background - What does your reader need to know about your topic?
- Lead In - Connect the background to your thesis
- Thesis Statement - Connect your topic to the Human Journey
- Questions to consider:
- How is the human experience similar or different across texts?
- What lesson or theme on life experience can you extract from the text?
- Why is it important to learn about other people's journey?
- How can it help you with your own personal journal and learning style to learn about the journey of others?

- Do NOT just regurgitate facts. Create an explanation of the human journey through your topic.
- Checklist:
- Three texts read and analyzed.
- Texts must be different genres/ mediums: poem, memoir, short story, nonfiction essay, news article, work of art, photograph, photo essay, Ted Talk, and more!
- Texts must be annotated with 20-25 annotations total for the three texgts
- Compose a one page written extended RACE response based on the guiding questions (RACE Rubric)
